Week Three, Day One

Read

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

(Matthew 5:14–16)

This week, we will focus our attention on sharing the Light of the World with the people around us.

This light given to us—the Light of the World, Jesus—is not only a gift we can receive but also one we can share. Christmas is a gift that is far too wonderful to keep to ourselves. God was on a mission to eradicate the darkness through the presence of his Son, Jesus, and he’s still on that same mission today. Not only are we invited to experience the life-changing power of a relationship with God, but we are invited to participate in his world-changing mission of sharing that light with the people around us.

Christmas becomes even more meaningful when we take God up on his invitation to share his love with the people around us and watch him turn darkness into light. We are carriers of the greatest gift there ever was! May we see every opportunity God gives us this season to be his light of the world.

Pray

God, thank you for the gift of your Son. Thank you that you not only bring light to what feels dark in my life, but you also invite me to participate in sharing that light with others. I pray you would open my eyes to see the opportunities you’ve given me to share your love with others. Slow me down. Make me pause. Help me love others the way you love them, and help me experience you in new ways as you work through me.
