We can’t live however we’d like and then ask God to bless it. And we can’t ask God to save us from the consequences of bad choices we’ve already decided we are going to make. If our actions run contrary to our prayers, we shouldn’t expect much. God is not a vending machine or a genie, he’s a loving Father who wants us to trust and follow him because he loves us and wants what’s best for us. Prayer is as much about learning to trust and obey God as it is asking for God’s help.
